## Using the correct symbols: the degree sign and the multiplication sign | Editage Insights

Here's a quick list of shortcuts you may use in Desmos. I love Desmos not only because its graphing capabilities but I'm also using as my notebook instead of the paper. When I have to derive some physics equations and I'm bound to make mistakes, desmos allows me to simply correct that little mistake instead of starting all over again and what's more important is that it looks way better than my horrible handwritten equations.

But the problems I have is that lots of symbols are missing like integrals, Greek letters, matrices and so forth and there is too little space for writing equations so I hope in the future desmos will suit these purposes too and replace scratch papers. There are huge benefits that are hard to foresee for example imagine a teacher making a video tutorial while typing equations instead of scribbling with hand, or a lecture where professor uses projector and desmos instead of a blackboard, typing is easier than writing and reading typed words is easier, everybody would be happy!

I really that happens soon If not I'm gonna make it!

- jaws screen reading software for mac.
- Insert and edit an equation.

I encounter a bug when trying to use my bluetooth keyboard on the default desmos interface. I am on a tablet. There's no input received when I try typing on it for an equation; it only shows the desmos keyboard.

Arnav - we don't have a degree symbol but you can toggle between radians and degrees in the graph settings menu! It would be great to have shortcuts for: 1.

In that post, I gave shortcuts for inserting mathematical symbols into Word — the post was specific to the Windows version of Word. The multiplication symbol, for one, is not accessible by a keyboard shortcut.

### Superscripts, subscripts and groups of characters

In Word for Mac I think the previous version has this as well open the Toolbox. At the top there are tabs for various parts of the Toolbox. The second one is the Object Palette click thumbnail below for a larger view. Clicking a symbol here will insert it into your documents.

This is the quickest way I can find to insert a multiplication symbol without using more complex methods described below.

Have you noticed how Word automagically corrects common spelling mistakes? First, you will need to use the previous method to insert a multiplication symbol into a new document. Then, copy that symbol to the clipboard.

From the Tools menu select AutoCorrect. Press the Add button and then the OK button. Click the thumbnail below for a screenshot. To do this, you will need to setup as per the previous method — which means there should be a flag at the top-right of your screen on the menu bar.
